2014 Barbegazi Snowskate Competition

Posted by Matt Plays on

Barbegazi Fest is a truly exciting event born in Montreal, QC. The two-day festival transforms the Montreal Olympic Park into a winter sport oasis. The snowskate competition, brought to life by our homies at Ambition Snowskates, drew some of snowskating's heaviest dudes to Montreal. David Engerer, Alan Gerlach, COSD, and the rest of the crew showed event attendees the most progressive snow skateboarding to date.

At the end of the day, David Engerer's bigspin frontboard shuv-it and frontside overcrook took 1st place, while Matt Plays' varial heel and solid handrail performance earned him 2nd place. Up-and-comer Eric Fryc snagged 3rd place with a variety of tricks thrown down the nine set.

The following day's best trick competition took place on a kicker to picnic table and exhibited a more technical approach to snowskating. Many thanks to Alex Blais, Phillipe Moreau, Dave Duncan, and the rest of the Barbegazi staff for judging, organizing the event, and being so hospitable towards Icon Snowskates. Below are the official results and media resources to see more from the event:
